The Canadian Patient Safety Institute required a upgrade to their “Communities of Practice” Solution to support collaboration for heath care providers across Canada. This solution was required to support collaboration on how to improve patient safety across Canada. They required the solution to be easy to use and require as little centralized support as possible. SharePoint was selected as the framework to upgrade the “Communities of Practice” solution.
Using SharePoint we upgraded the public Community of Practice website based on SharePoint. The key function of this solution was for national collaboration of heath care providers. This solution adds advanced customizations to the base collaboration functions of SharePoint to allow for community management with very little support.
Email alerting functions to allow for a single summary emails per community site instead of multiple generic SharePoint alerts
Authentication modules for anonymous signup and self-serve password maintenance
Approval management of joining private community sites
Automated permission management
Self service management of users joining and leaving communities
